I interned at UNESCO Brazil‘s National Office in Brasília as the sole intern for the Education sector from May until August of 2024. I chose Brazil as I had background knowledge of their education system … Continue reading Internship Insight – Nicole

Wrapping up internship, part 2: Learning & gratitude

As I was preparing to write this final post about my fall internship with UNICEF Bolivia, I looked back on some of my peers’ final blog entries, to gain some inspiration for what parting words of wisdom I should share here. Reading only a handful of posts was enough to remind me that the ending to my internship experience was not like many of my … Continue reading Wrapping up internship, part 2: Learning & gratitude

Wrapping up internship, part 1: What’s going on in Bolivia?

whirl•wind/ˈ(h)wərlˌwind/nounA column of air moving rapidly around and around in a cylindrical or funnel shape. Used in similes and metaphors to describe a very energetic or tumultuous person or process. That is the only way to describe the last three weeks. Although we’re only in the first week of November (and I was supposed to be in Bolivia until the end of November), it may … Continue reading Wrapping up internship, part 1: What’s going on in Bolivia?

Hola desde Chile

*walks in 4.5 months late holding an empanada*

Hola, I’m Ale, I have been in Santiago de Chile interning at UNESCO since June and I have about 50 days left. I am wide awake on a 9ish hour flight and thought it would be a good time to share a bit about my work and life here these past few months!

Out of the office, Bolivia edition

If you’ve been keeping up with my blog posts (see my second post here), you’ll probably guess that I spend most of my days sitting at my desk. It’s true that I spend most days reading hundreds of pages of research, entering data into spreadsheets, and writing briefs. That said, I also take advantage of opportunities to get away from the desk, whether by joining … Continue reading Out of the office, Bolivia edition

A day in the life of an IEDP Intern in Bolivia

I’ve now been in La Paz for one whole month (!!), which also means that I’ve gotten into more of a routine (which I crave), and the weeks are starting to pass by more quickly. As such, and after being inspired by fellow IEDPers’ blog posts (looking at you, Vasiliki and Morgan!), I decided to share what a “day in the life” of an IEDP … Continue reading A day in the life of an IEDP Intern in Bolivia

Hasta Luego Roatán

My internship experience in Roatán was a rollercoaster ride zooming in slow motion. I definitely embraced its celebratory peaks, and screamed at its falls. But overall, I am happy with the experience, as I can confidently say it was a major learning experience for me. I have been going through a chronic medical issue for months now, and it was uncertain that I could actually … Continue reading Hasta Luego Roatán

Roatán Adventures

Pre-Roatán The first two weeks of my internship were in Washington D.C, where an IEDP cohort-mate and I were introduced to the English program we were going to be working with and prepared for the field work. I not only learned more about Interactive Audio Instruction (IAI), but also observed how this specific nonprofit organization functions. I was able to sit in on other meetings … Continue reading Roatán Adventures
